USA – US Customs & Border Protection Changes course on Duty Payment Extensions

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) published a notice (CSMS #42161666) to inform the trade community they are no longer accepting requests for additional days for payment.  They will retain the right to allow additional days for narrow circumstances, which they define as a physical inability to file entry or payments due to technology outages or port closures.

They also issue payment guidance for those who did not pay for estimated duties, taxes or feeds due 3/20/2020 to 3/26/2020. Policy questions should be directed to the Office of Trade, Trade Policy and Programs at OTentrysummary@dbp.dhs.gov
