USA / Canada – Port Terminals and Import and Export Operations
Port terminals across North America are adjusting to the current environment – committed to remaining open to ensure the flow of goods, but also adjusting on a weekly basis to vessel calls. When there is not enough maritime volume, terminals have been adjusting with reducing hours or suspending gate operations on certain days.
For customers with import /export cargo, scheduling warehouse collections / deliveries in alignment with the terminal operating hours can shorten the time windows needed to coordinate shipments. This puts pressure on free time allowances for shipments and increases the risk of demurrage or detention.
