US CBMA Filing will change next year: 7 things you should know

Next year there are important changes coming to the current process of CBMA rate filing for eligible imports of wines, spirits and beer. 

We will continue to update you if there are any changes to announced procedures or deployment timeline.  As it stands today, any CBMA rate filing or protests for 2021 and 2022 via Hillebrand customs brokerage will be need to be made by the end of this year.

Here are the top 7 changes to note with CBMA filing starting January 2023

1. CBMA Administration will move from CBP to the TTB. 2. CBMA filing will move to a refund program.  Importers will pay the full rate of excise tax upon entry and then can file CMBA refund claims with the TTB.
