Spanish truck drivers announce strike for December 20-22, 2021
Citing grievances over rising diesel prices and working conditions, Spain’s National Road Transportation Committee (CNTC) has announced a three day strike for December 20-22, 2021.
The CNTC says the action is in response to the “exorbitant rise” in the cost of diesel, which it described as the “deathblow to a sector that has been struggling since before the pandemic.” Diesel represents about one-third of the industry’s costs.
The government, through the minister of Transport has initiated negotiations in attempt to avoid a strike. If the strike goes forward this will impact all transport moves, both regular pickups or container transport to/from ports.
