Potential logistics impacts from Ukraine – Russia conflict
Following the news coverage of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, we reached out to our shipping partner Hillebrand for information on how the situation could impact NASA members.
Yesterday Hillebrand’s agents and partners in Ukraine advised that all logistics operations have stopped. Vessels have been evacuated from the ports of Odessa and Pivdennyi and shipments have ceased until further notice.
In the coming days and weeks, the changes of carrier routings and cargo diversions in the area could have an impact on the empty container supply in the Eastern European region. Fuel prices regionally and/or globally could also react to the volatility in the market.
The United States announced sanctions this week on the Donestk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine, prohibiting the exportation, re-exportation, sale or supply, directly or indirectly from the United States.
We are closely monitoring the situation for any new updates to trade sanction legislation or new measures that could directly or indirectly impact NASA members. Our thoughts and hearts go out to those affected by these recent events.
