Portugal – Lisbon Strike Extended, Holiday Closures, Shipping Updates
Portugal Strike extended
Dockworkers at the port of Lisbon have announced an extension of their strike action from June 1, 2020 at 8AM to 8AM July 6, 2020. Due the disruption in operations from the existing strike, most shipping lines have omitted Lisbon port calls from vessel schedules. Until operations resume at Lisbon, customers will pending orders can divert freight to sail from Leixões or alternative ports; please inquire for more information.
US Memorial Day Holiday
NASA and Hillebrand office and warehouse teams will be closed for the US Memorial day holiday observed on Monday May 25th. US Port terminals will also be closed or have reduced operations on the holiday as well. Please note for import customs this will shift forward the ISF filling cutoff dates to May 22th for departures through May 27th.
Shipping Updates
The continued cancellation of vessel sailings on all major corridors has increased capacity demand on the remaining vessels. In areas where there is peak seasons for other commodities this can impact the typical lead time to secure bookings. Equipment availability still varies widely depending on origins, but in general there is more demand for reefer equipment.
