Port of Montreal Labor Union Update

The Port of Montreal has been operating under a labor truce arranged last August that ended the strike there. As we have been reporting, the negotiations have deteriorated raising the possibility of new strike action.

Yesterday longshoremen rejected the latest offer from the Maritime Employers Association.  The union has not announced a strike as yet.  The best case scenario would be the parties agree to a new negotiation process.

We will continue to monitor the situation and report on any new developments.  In the interim we continue to recommend planning ahead for potential disruption for any shipments routed to or from the Port of Montreal.
