Oakland Port OICT Terminal to implement Temporary Storage Charge, LA/LB Postpones Excess Dwell Fees
SSA Terminals, which operates the Oakland International Container Terminal (OICT) at the Port of Oakland will implement a temporary storage charge in addition to normal port demurrage charges.
The Temporary Storage Charge at OICT will be levied on loaded import containers that have exceeded 5 calendar days at the terminal effective December 20th, 2021.
The fee structure after 5 days “free time” is as follows:
USD 50 per day for days 1-5 after free time expires
USD 75 per day for days 6-10 after free time expires
USD 100 per day for days 11-15 after free time expires
USD 150 per day for day 16+ after free time expires
SSA’s announcement states that the importer of record in the shipping documents will be responsible for the charges.
SSA’s has now announced or implemented excess dwell or temporary storage charges at all the major container terminals at US West Coast ports. These charges for Los Angeles / Long Beach terminals have been postponed again for further review on December 20th, 2021.
