Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) to increase US West Coast PSS from Europe March 13, 2022
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) is reacting to market demand changes on transatlantic capacity, particularly in relation to US West Coast ports.
Shipping demand to the west coast is 50% higher than last year and capacity and container supply continues to be constrained.
The Alliance carrier group announced blank (cancelled) sailings for the month of March and MSC is deploying additional vessels to add capacity to the US West Coast. However, ongoing congestion for vessels discharging on the US West Coast continues to absorb additional capacity and in response MSC is increasing their PSS for those port calls.
Carrier: Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC)
Scope: Europe to US West Coast (Los Angeles / Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle).
Units: all container types, dry and reefer
Effective: March 13, 2022 until further notice
Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) increase
North Europe ports to US West Coast – increase by USD 2,000 per unit
Mediterranean ports to US West Coast ports – increase by USD 1,000 per unit
