Houston Port systems down 2nd Day
Port of Houston – Closed for 2nd day
Both Bayport and Barbours Cut Terminals at the Port of Houston will remain closed today and tonight July 28, 2021 while the port works to bring systems back online.
We are awaiting information if systems will be restored for a possible opening tomorrow and information for weekend, free time and recovery opportunities.
Intermodal Alerts
Union Pacific has resumed international intermodal train service between West coast ports and its primary ocean container terminal outside of Chicago after a 7 day suspension to reduce container stacks. They will continue to monitor and/or meter eastbound volumes according to the pace of outgate operations and available chassis supply. BNSF is also metering service to Chicago for an indefinite time. It is unclear if this measure will be able to keep the terminal fluid as the new inbound flood from a week of backlogged cargo at West Coast ports comes in.
International Port Alerts
South Africa – Transnet Port terminals systems have been restored as of July 27, 2021. Terminal operations have resumed, but not all systems (EDI exchanges) have been restored.
Shanghai and Ningbo Port operations resumed earlier this week following closures from Typhoon In-Fa.
