Melbourne Port – Temporarily Closed
Engineering crews are assessing safety of equipment at the port of Melbourne following the 5.9 earthquake on Wednesday. Additional the VICT Terminal at Melbourne was shut down on Wednesday night local time because of a new positive cases and will remain closed until further notice; likely a reopening will not be likely until the weekend.
This will impact containers already in-gated at the terminal as well as exports that are loading will be held in a depot, subject to storage charges and reefer power where applicable. We are planning on a large backlog of timeslots to impact activities when the terminal reopens.
Sydney Port – Closed on Sept 24 and Labor shortages
Hutchinson Terminal at Sydney Port is experiencing disruption after a new outbreak of positive cases of terminal employees. With safety protocols in place, and mandatory two-week quarantines for staff who were in close contact means that terminal operations are slower than normal and these disruptions are expected to continue until the end of October. In addition note that the terminal will be closed on Sept 24, 2020 for unrelated road operations.
