Alert: New Zealand flooding
New Zealand has been hit with major flooding following four days of heavy rains this past weekend. While flooding affected both islands, Nelson in the south was hit the worst. A state of emergency was declared for regions of Marlborough, West Coast and Nelson-Tasman last Friday.
Nelson is a key export port for the southern island and both State Highway 6, the main route to the port, and SH63 would remain closed for days. Bridge repair on SH63 will not be able to start until water levels recede.
While extreme weather has passed, rain is forecasted in the south island until this Thursday according to New Zealand’s national weather authority.
Please plan for additional delays on inland transport (container positioning or collection) for orders from these regions.
