Re: New Orleans Truckers Picketing at Area Marine Terminals

Dear NASA Member:

Local owner-operator truckers are currently picketing New Orleans area marine terminals. This trucker action is directed at the New Orleans market as a whole, not at any particular company or companies. The activity is a protest concerning rate levels and certain terminal operations issues.

Area terminals, including the APM Terminals facility, are operating with normal gate hours and stevedoring operations.

In addition to the local owner-operators who are picketing, a number of over-the-road drivers and area company-owned trucks have been unwilling to cross the picket lines. This is having an impact on operations at all area terminals.

We are optimistic that this situation will end soon. However, please note that truck operations are expected to take a short time to return to normal once picketing has stopped.
