Argentina - New Local Insurance Requirement to Buenos Aires Increases FOB Charges USD 68

Argentina to Buenos Aires Port - New Local Insurance Requirement Increases FOB Charges by USD 68

Be advised that as of June 13th 2011 the Argentina Truckers' Union has made a local insurance requirement mandatory on all FCL (full container load) trucking to and from Buenos Aires port. The unions have made this policy mandatory to protect against civil liability and to control the quality of the containers transported.

The Truckers' Union has selected local insurance companies to issue the certificate jointly with the Bureau Veritas which is responsible for container inspections. The cost of the insurance certificate is USD 68 and containers will not be accepted or discharged from Buenos Aires port without this requirement.

For shippers transporting FCL units via Buenos Aires port the FOB charges will reflect the additional cost of the mandatory insurance certificate. For questions or further information contact your sales representative directly.
