Re:

France - Strike update and Important Changes to Hapag Mediterranean Services affecting sailings from Fos

Important Changes to Hapag Mediterranean Service affecting sailings from Fos

Be advised that Hapag has advised of service changes affecting shipments from Fos to the USA East Coast. The direct UASC service will be discontinued March 1st, 2011 and Hapag will not accept any bookings later than mid-February. The new Maersk Westmed service which Hapag will participate in (with stops at Fos, Newark, Norfolk, Savannah and Miami) will not be an available option until the French port strike situation has been resolved.

For all current diversion proposals with Hapag from the south of France, the routing will change to Zim Lines (via Tarragona Spain) with no additional cost to customers. However shippers should be aware of the delays with the reduced space capacity during the strike situation.

France Strike Update

Dates and times for French port strikes for this week are confirmed as follows:

  • Friday February 11, 2011 from 6am through 6am Tuesday Feb 15, 2011
  • Tuesday February 15, 2011 from 10pm to 6am Wednesday Feb 16, 2011
  • Additional hour strike per shift worked (2 hours per day) on regular days

There will be no vessel operations or container movements during strike times. For status on any pending orders check with your operations representative at 732-388-0101 or login to AXIS for further detail.
