Re:

Update on French strikes (Thursday)

France Strike Update – Thursday Jan, 20

Yesterday's meeting between the unions and the state was unsuccessful and further talks are scheduled for early next week. A union meeting is already scheduled on Tuesday January 25th to determine further action (presumably more weekend strike action).

Be reminded that there will be no vessel operations or container pickups/releases at Le Havre and Fos sur Mer during the following dates/times:

  • Thursday January 20, 2011 - no night shift (from 10pm to 6am)
  • Friday January 21 from 6am to Monday January 24 at 10pm
  • Monday January 24, 2011 - no night shift (from 10pm to 6am)
  • Daily strike action of one hour per shift

Ocean carriers are adjusting scheduled port calls based on the strike situation and resulting congestion. Note for making alternative shipping arrangements from ports outside of France, suppliers must issue new electronic DAA documents. We will continue provide updates on further developments and on individual shipments affected.

For status on any pending orders check with your operations representative at 732-388-0101 or login to AXIS for further detail.
