Italy - Trade Union Strike announced for Friday July 2, 2010

One of Italy's three main trade unions has announced a strike in the Tuscany and Liguria regions for Friday July 2nd, 2010. Although the ports of Genova and Livorno could suffer partial or total closeouts this coming Friday, this is not expected to negatively affect vessel departures.

JF Hillebrand Italy has taken the precaution of scheduling the loading of as many containers as possible in advance to Friday, limiting the amount of containers to be returned to the ports on Friday to a bare minimum. Any containers unable to be processed by the port on Friday will be re-delivered on Saturday. The local office expects the strike to have a very limited impact on shipments.
