Updated: Chile Operations affected by earthquake

UPDATED: Chile Operations affected by earthquake:

Following the earthquake in Chile Saturday morning, the JF Hillebrand Chile office in Santiago remains closed but will re-open as soon as power and water service is restored (expected later this week). Staff is accessing emails remotely where possible.

Updates for transportation:

  • Valparaiso port is open but container backlog for exports and vessel schedule delays are expected.
  • San Antonio port remains without power but is expected to re-open Wednesday
  • Chile's southern ports (Talcahuano, Lirquen) are closed and carriers have cancelled all port calls.
  • International road between Argentina and Chile is open
  • International airport is open.
  • Delays are to be expected for goods from wine regions south of Santiago where wineries are reporting extensive damage.

JF Hillebrand US staff and Chile staff is working on assessing status of pending import orders which will be affected by the closures and we will continue to update you on the situation as more information becomes available.
