Re:

USA Import Alert
Carriers strictly enforcing cargo weight limits / chassis releases

USA Import Alert
Ocean carriers strictly enforcing cargo weight limitations / chassis releases:

Please be aware that many carriers are strictly enforcing cargo weight limitations and may prevent the release of chassis without overweight permits or overweight/tri-axle equipment.

In such a move, OOCL at NYCT (New York Container Port) is restricting access to chassis equipment unless the consignee can provide a Staten Island Bridge Permit or tri-axle chassis.

OOCL cargo weight limitations for NYCT port drayage are as follows:

20 Reefer          36,500 lbs

40 Reefer          41,500 lbs

20 Standard      39,500 lbs

40 Standard      44,500 lbs

Because cargo weight limitations and chassis release requirements vary from carrier to carrier, we recommend reviewing cargo weight restrictions and overweight permissions closely when organizing shipments. For further details or questions, please contact the operations department or intermodal department at JF Hillebrand USA or your port drayage provider.
