Re:

Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) Congestion, Surcharge Possible

Congestion at Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT); Surcharge Possible:

PNCT Terminal has been experiencing recent congestion as MSC vessels are calling this terminal instead of Maher terminal. The volume has increased by 1462 lifts daily and despite extended Saturday gate hours, the wait time for pickups has been averaging 4-8 hours resulting in truck queues near the terminal causing alarm with local authorities.

Due to the above situation at the PNCT terminal, a trucker congestion surcharge may be announced for any container activity at this terminal. We will keep you informed as we receive further information and where possible book cargo on steamship lines using alternative terminals until the congestion improves.

For inquiries on any pending shipments, please contact your local operations representative at 732-388-0101.
