Date: Monday, June 16, 2008
Port workers in all French ports will be on strike for 48 hours on Tuesday, June 17th, and Wednesday, June 18th. This coincides with the dates the new reform will be debated in Parliament. However, we have just been informed that in Fos/Mer they have decided to extend their strike from Saturday, June 14th, 6 am through Tuesday, June 17th, 6 am, which effectively means that no work will be done at all through Thursday, June 19th, 6 am. There will be no port operations whatsoever during this period. Truckers actions - further to last week's proposals from the government which disappointed the Unions, there will be a truckers strike on Monday, June 16th throughout France. This is not expected to last more than the day. Regards, North American Shippers Association
