Received below from Hapag Lloyd: As a direct consequence of strikes at the French ports of Le Havre and Fos, carriers have been hit with additional handling costs attributable to port omissions and extended terminal stays. After an internal evaluation of relative costs, it has been determined to file a Port Congestion surcharge for import and export containers to/from Le Havre and Fos to/from USA and Canada. A Port Congestion Surcharge (CGO/CGD) of USD/162 per teu will be implemented on July 15, 2008. The surcharge will be filed related import and export FMC tariffs, and included in applicable FIS2 Revenue tariffs accordingly. For your general information, it is understood that a similar congestion surcharge will be filed in the Far East trades to/from France. |
