Re:

France – Strike Update

Fewer calls are being cancelled at Le Havre. Most carriers are now able to work around the strike schedules although delays are still possible.

In Fos, the situation should improve this week with the return of several feeder vessels which the carriers can keep docked for several days. Entrance to Eurofos terminal is still a problem; they only accept containers due to load on feeders leaving within two days.

Strike dates and times for the 8th week of disruptions are:

  • Wednesday, June 4th - no night shift
  • 24h from 6 am on Thursday, June 5th, to 6 am Friday, June 6th
  • 24h from 3 pm on Saturday, June 7th to 3 pm Sunday, June 7th

This is a slight improvement as only one night shift not being worked as opposed to two in the past weeks.

Truckers have joined fishermen and agricultural workers in protesting over the high prices of fuel, blocking strategic roads, oil refineries, ports (including Le Havre.). Truckers’ action is expected to last until Tuesday, June 3rd. Talks are under way with the French government and in Brussels on a European level.
