Re:

French Port Strike - Update

Le Havre:
Unions have provided the dates and times they will be on strike next week as follows:

  • Night shifts: Monday, May 5th, from 2200 to 0600 and Tuesday, May 6th, from 2200 to Wednesday, May 7th, 0600 hrs.
  • 2 x 24-hour strike: from Friday,  May 9th, 0600 until Saturday, May 10th,  0600 and from Saturday, May 10th, 1500 until Sunday, May 11th,  1500.

Additionally there will be no port operations on Thursday, May 8th, as this is a public holiday.  Fortunately, tug-boat operators have cancelled their intention of strike for 72 hours.  Consequently, vessels scheduled can be operated.

Fos:
Gantry operators on a go-slow all week.  Meeting scheduled of all categories of port workers today is done but no information has been given for week 19.  No vessel operations from Wednesday, May 30th,  8pm until Friday morning 6am due to public holiday.  Tugboat operators also decided to cancel their strike preadvice.  So vessels can enter to be operated and then leave the terminals.

Eurofos terminal still unable to accept full export containers and most carriers still refusing bookings.  Hapag have added themselves to the list of carriers asking us to remove full containers from the terminal at the expense of cargo. We will keep you posted on the alternatives and costs on a case by case basis.
