French Port Strike - Update

Le Havre :

Unions have provided the dates and times they will be on strike next week as follows:

  • Night shifts Monday, April 28, from 2200 hrs to Tuesday, April 29, 0600 hours and Tuesday from 2200 hours to Wednesday, April 30th, 0600 hours.
  • Two 24-hours strikes from Friday, May 2, 0600 hours until Saturday, May 3rd, 0600 hours and from Saturday, May 3rd, 1500 hours until Sunday, May 4th, 1500 hours.

Additionally there will be no port operations on Thursday, May 1st, as this is a public holiday.

To make matters worse, the tug-boat operators have announced their intention to strike for 72 hours commencing Wednesday, April 30th , at 0800 hours.

Any vessels scheduled to load during these timeframes will be delayed or cancelled. Carriers are not required to give more than 24-hours notice of cancellation.

Fos:

Gantry operators on a go-slow all week. Meeting is scheduled of all categories of port workers tomorrow, Tuesday, April 29th , to decide on future strike dates.  No vessel operations from Wednesday, April 30th , 2000 hours until Friday 0600 hours due to public holiday.

Marseille/Fos tugboat operator have yet to decide whether they will join their Le Havre colleagues in their strike action this week.

Eurofos terminal still unable to accept full export containers and most carriers still refusing bookings.
