Re:

France Ports - Strike Update

The French Ports reform negotiations, aiming at a privatization of the cranes and transfer of crane drivers under the control of the Terminal operators, have reached a peak yesterday with the major Port unions voting against the government proposal and calling all workers/crane drivers for a stop in French ports including Le Havre and Fos.

There are additional meetings today in Fos and dockers will vote. It is expected that they will adopt the same methods as Le Havre.

Currently the situation in Le Havre is as follows:

  • Total of 64-hour strike during week of April 13th
  • Wednesday, April 16th, night shift from 22.00 hrs til 06.00 hrs
  • Thursday, April 17th, night shift from 22.00 hrs til 06.00 hrs
  • 24-hour strike from Friday, April 18th, 06.00 hrs til Saturday, April 19th, 06.00 hrs
  • 24-hour strike from Saturday, April 19th, 15.00 hrs til Sunday, April 20th, 15.00 hrs

This means possibly no work in Le Havre between Thursday, April 17th, 22.00 hrs and Sunday, April 20th, 15.00 hrs except from Saturday, April 19th, 06.00hrs and 15.00 hrs.

From Monday, April 21st, to Wednesday, April 23rd, afternoon, port will to be working normally, although trying to catch up with congestion, etc.
