The strike in Argentina that was implemented by rural workers on March 13, 2008, is still continuing to date. There are approximately 400 roads connecting Buenos Aires with the countryside that are blocked. Mendoza producers started blocking the roads since March 27th, resulting in shipment delays. As of April 1, 2008, the National government offered some measures but these are not according to the producers' expectations. The strike continues and its impact is already visible -- it is almost impossible to find meat, milk or other groceries at any Argentina store. Will keep you posted on developments. Joan Barrett |
