Re:

China Shipping Container Line

Dear NASA Member:

China Shipping Container Lines has announced that they will be withdrawing their round the world service named AMAX during the month of August 2007.

AMAX was a weekly service employing 4200 TEU capacity vessels of which 2000 TEUs were allocated to the Mediterranean > North America trade lane.

During the same period the TAS 3 service (a joint service between Yang Ming, K Line and Cosco) is also being withdrawn from this trade lane. The total capacity of this service which will be lost on this route will be a further 1500 TEUs.

These are both important capacity reductions which will impact on the availability of space in the near future and in turn, will almost certainly trigger rate increases.

Best regards,
North American Shippers Association
