Re:

PANAMA CANAL TRANSIT FEE

Dear NASA Member:

Received below from TACA:

Effective May 1, 2007, the Panama Canal Authority will implement the third tier of its three-year plan based upon the 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container carrying capacity of fully cellular containerships. The resulting increase in costs requires TACA Parties to revise the Panama Canal Transit Fee, Eastbound and Westbound, from $192 per container to $212 per container, not subject to CAF, effective May 1, 2007.

The Canal Authority has also announced further toll increases in the next two years as part of its US$5.25bn proposal to expand the waterway. The TACA members will continue to review these increases relative to TACA’s Tariff charge and relevant announcements will be made on a timely basis.

For and on behalf of the following TACA Parties:

Atlantic Container Line AB
Maersk Line
Mediterranean Shipping Co. SA
Nippon Yusen Kaisha
Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd
