SAFMARINE UPDATES – BAF / U.S. INLAND FUEL SURCHARGE / CONLEY TERMINAL

Dear NASA Member:

Received the below updates from Safmarine:

BAF (effective October 1, 2006)

In response to changes in fuel prices in the Southern Africa trade, Safmarine has decided to increase its Bunker Adjustment Factor (BAF) effective October 1, 2006 (upon date of cargo receipt). This applies to all U.S., Canada, and Mexico cargo to / from Southern Africa locations as follows:

North America to Southern Africa and Southern Africa to North America:
USD 700 / 20’
USD 1,160 / 40’

U.S. Inland Fuel Surcharge

Please be advised that the Fuel Surcharge will increase from USD 125 per container to USD 150 per container, effective October 1, 2006.

Conley Terminal - Boston, MA

Please note that Conley Terminal (Boston, MA) no longer allows any steamship company to keep chassis at the terminal. Only neutral pool chassis will be allowed into Conley. Truckers will now need to pick up a chassis from an offsite container yard before proceeding to Conley Terminal.

Safmarine is currently positioning chassis out of Conley Terminal to RoadLink (Randolph, MA) to ensure equipment is readily available for truckers when cargo is due for pick-up. For export loads going into Conley Terminal, they will need to be terminated at RoadLink as well. RoadLink USA is a network of operating companies focused on intermodal trucking, dedicated operations, and related logistics services throughout the United States.

Best regards,
