WOOD PACKING MATERIAL (ISPM 15) - UPDATE |
Dear NASA Member:
Please note the following important updates relevant to the new international Wood Packing Material (WPM) requirements, known as "ISPM 15."
1. China will begin enforcing the new standard on January 1, 2006. Between now and January 1, WPM may either be treated and marked in accordance with the international standard (ISPM 15) or may be treated and certified under the old certification regime. Effective January 1, 2006, only WPM treated and marked in accordance with ISPM 15 will be permitted into the country.
2. The EU began enforcing ISPM 15 on March 1, 2005. The EU has just announced that it will also require debarking of material effective March 1, 2006.
