| Re: |
Port of Montreal Union Demonstrations |
Dear NASA Member:
Due to the unions demonstrating against the Provincial Government, a province wide labor action is under way.
At this time, there are between 100 to 200 people blocking each entrance to the Port of Montreal. Picketers are set up to spend the day there.
Some truck operators attempting to enter the port were vandalized.
Picketers are also blocking CP Rail tracks which lead from CPR's Hochelaga yard into the Port switching area.
The longshoremen are not crossing the picket lines so it would appear that terminal operations will be closed today as of 08:00 a.m.
In summary, all indications are that there will be a complete shut down today of truck, rail and marine terminal operations.
We expect everything to return back to normal tomorrow. We will keep you posted on any developments.
Best Regards,
