Re:
French Truckers Union Update

The French Truckers Union is discussing a variety of issues at this time including wage increases and the introduction of a “13th month of wages” clause. They have scheduled a final meeting for the 22nd of November, 2002 where their issues will be presented. The union claims that if these issues are not dealt with satisfactorily they will organize a strike, yet there is no current information as to how long this strike may last.

The rail drivers have also scheduled a one day strike for November 26, 2002. In preparation for any negative actions by the union we are bringing forward, by at least a week, as many FCL (full container load) shipments as possible. We have also sent requisitions to the Railroads for additional space from the end of November onward subject to using local truckers between the supplier’s facilities and the railhead.

We will continue to keep you updated as the situation changes.
