Re:
NEWS FLASH

Dear Colleagues,

As the horrific events of this week continue to unfold, we are charged with the task, in Mayor Giuliani’s words, of getting life back to normal. In light of this we want to update you as to what is currently taking place at the Port of NY/NJ.

As of Thursday, the port was re-opened for business under very tight security conditions. Vessels are only allowed to enter the port during daylight hours and each vessel enters with a Coast Guard escort. The gates are open but your local carrier should certainly allow extra time for picking-up your cargo and must make sure that they have all the proper paperwork. No one will be allowed to enter the port area without proper identification or appropriate paperwork for their specific load.

Some of the steamship lines are offering the ability to pick-up or deliver cargo on this Saturday as well. We have confirmation from the following lines stating that they will remain open for business tomorrow:

Maersk Sealand - Open
MSC - Not Open
Italia - Not Open
Hanjin - Call 201-4593
Evergreen - Not Open
MOL - Open
Hapag - Not Open
Lykes - Not Open
TMM - Not Open
CCNI - Not Open
APL - Not Open
NYK - Not Open
P&O - Cal 201-896-6908/5579

There may be other lines offering the same hours so you are encouraged to have your local carrier contact the terminal if they wish to take advantage of the extended hours. We are trying our utmost to continue the flow of product to you, our members, while at the same time remembering those affected by this senseless act.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us or your customer service representative directly. Thank you for your understanding and your continued support of NASA.

Sincerely,
Dave Ferris
On behalf of NASA and J.F. Hillebrand
